Last Blooms

To be Parisian is to embrace the finer things, large and small. Your food is never fast, your bread is from a bakery, your coffee is not "to go", and fresh flowers are not reserved for special occasions -- they bring life and color to every day in the city.

Neighborhood shops vibrantly bloom each morning, and by nightfall only a few stems remain amongst the carpet of pedals left by their departed brethren.

It's a testament to the lifestyle that les fleurs are found everywhere and a statement about the city that such beauty can be found even under a bench on a random side street.

This photo was taken at night on a narrow Montmartre rue where the shadows and colors tripped the waning light fantastic. The vibe of the scene makes you feel that it's Paris, the language on the sign confirms it.
